Theresa Stewart

November 28, 1961 — February 10, 2022

Hammond

"Mama Tee"-her heart was as big and beautiful as her smile.

Theresa ended her journey here on this earth on Thursday February 10th, 2022, at 60 years old. She was brave and relentless in her long battle with cancer, which finally ended due to Covid.

She was born on November 2nd, 1961, in Meridian, MS, but moved to Louisiana, where she called home. Being raised in Metairie she was a 1979 graduate of Riverdale High School, then she enrolled in Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana, where she mostly lived for the remainder of her life.

Theresa was a very compassionate, loving and caring person, which was exemplified in her chosen profession as a Registered Nurse.

Theresa leaves behind her 2 children, Meghan Eloise Stewart and Mayson Adam Stewart (Shelby Varnado) and her only grandchild, Henry James Stewart. She also leaves behind her ex-husband Terry Leroy Stewart, with whom she maintained a close loving friendship, her forever Mother-in-law Phyllis Harrison and her best friend, Judy Davis Simon, whom she loved like a sister.

Her surviving siblings are Linda Hartlep (Doug), Dan Carlson (Phyllis), Micheal Carlson, Timothy Carlson (Tammi), Christine Carlson, and Sister-in-Law Kay Harrison Maurin (Buck).

She was a very special aunt to her nieces Brianna Dukes-Hemphill (Shannia), Janell Jackson, Marrisa Carlson, Kelli Carlson, and nephews Ian Carlson, Michael Carlson Jr., Norman Carlson, and Christopher Dukes, whom she loved dearly, and was often instrumental in guiding them and raising them as her own. She's also survived by numerous great nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends that she loved and considered family.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother Norman Axel Carlson and Barbara Jean (Bergh) Carlson, her paternal and maternal grandparents, and Father-in-Law Henry Frank Harrison.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
